Synopsis: The story of an Irish fisherman named Syracuse who discovers a woman named Ondine in his fishing net whom he believes to be a selkie or mermaid. Different theories about her origins come about as she integrates herself into the community. Syracuse's's partly-disabled daughter Annie, comes to believe that the woman is a magical creature, while Syracuse himself falls in love with her.
