The latest installment in the High School Musical movie series has already begun breaking box office records in the U.K. - the teen picture has taken the most advance bookings ever.
The film, starring Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, is due for release in Britain on 22 October, but cinemas across the country have already started booking for the first screenings.
And now the third High School Musical has broken the record set by 2005’s Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, selling more than $925,000 (GBP500,000) in advance tickets.
J.K. Rowling’s wizard adventure took just $419,950 (GBP227,000) at the same time before release.
Rupert Gavin, chief executive of Britain’s Odeon cinema chain, says, “Our cinemas have been inundated with calls to pre-book tickets for what could be the year’s biggest kids and teen audience movie. With schools breaking up for half-term just as High School Musical 3 opens, we are bracing ourselves for a huge first week run.”
The original TV movie was broadcast on the Disney channel in January 2006 and went on to become an unexpected worldwide hit.
The sequel’s premiere was watched by 18.6 million people in the U.S. last summer - breaking cable TV records.

Zac Efron was stunned to land a part in the High School Musical franchise - because he cannot dance or play basketball.
The young actor - who plays Troy Bolton in the movie musicals - initially found the dance routines hard to master, because he has no rhythm.
He says, “I’m definitely not a dancer. I grew up being into sports and I wasn’t trained to move my body in the right way for dancing. I’m the last one to get any move correct.
“In rehearsals it’s always, ‘Ok, one more take for Zac’.”
And Efron also struggled with his scenes as the film’s basketball ace: “I played for a few years when I was at school. I remember a championship game when I was in the sixth grade.
“I gave away the ball at the last second and the other team scored. I lost the game for my team. It was pretty bad. It’s much more fun now because it’s usually in the script that we win.”

High School Musical director Kenny Ortega never planned for Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens to play onscreen lovers - but he couldn’t keep the pair apart.
Ortega admits he never envisaged the pair - who are real life lovers - taking on the roles as Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez in his movie musical franchise, but was overwhelmed by their instant chemistry.
He says, “We tried to separate them and try them with other partners but it didn’t work. The magic was already there between them.
“Life imitates art. When Zac and Vanessa first auditioned for me they didn’t know each other.
“But the chemistry those two kids share was just there. It has always been there.”
Efron adds, “We were the first ones to be paired up together in rehearsals and it pretty much stayed that way through all the auditions.”
